Are you feeling nervous?

In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years

- Abraham Lincoln

It’s early morning, I am sitting calmly and quietly on the couch in my living room, the sun shining gloriously, spreading it’s warm rays across the floor, and suddenly I notice a flutter in my heart, my palms are getting sweaty, an overwhelming sense of unease creeps in. I pause, and ask myself ‘what is happening?’ Sudden nervousness is taking over.

I am caught off guard by the change and discomfort that is now forefront in my mind, and disturbing my peace.

I allow my mind to wondered, exploring whether there is something coming up that would make me feel suddenly nervous, and I draw a blank.

There was no threat that I was consciously aware of, but on a subconscious level my body was reacting to imminent danger.

After naturally looking for a connect between what is happening within my body and any external factors, I reflect on recent memories, and thought patterns to see if something might be influencing this sudden nervousness. I have nothing.

The influence the subconscious mind has on our thought behaviours, and emotional state, without our immediate conscious awareness is not only fascinating, but a little scary.

Is there a past experience or a repressed memory that my mind has connected to? Again, I have nothing!

After assessing that there are no external, or environmental factor that have bought on these sudden nervous feelings, I think that this could be a manifestation of an underlying anxiety.

As most of us will know, anxiety doesn’t always need an obvious trigger to rear its ugly head! And then I start to think about the universe, and signs.

There have been occasions when out of nowhere, the sensation of butterflies start, and then a few days, weeks, months later there is seismic shift, that throws me off course, or deliberately throws me back on course!

So if you find yourself feeling suddenly nervous, and you don’t know why, of course it could be underlying anxiety, in which case, slow everything down, take some deep breathes. If you have time, I love this Wim Hof method guided breathing technique link. If that is not for you, try to be mindful by playing the senses game, 3 things you can see, hear, smell, and touch. Or just listen to the noises around you, moving from sound to sound, not attaching or trying to identify, just listening.

If however, it is not anxiety, just think, it could be the universe getting ready to give you a little nudge in the right direction. In which case, hold on tight, something is about to reveal itself!

I hope this is helped in some small way. Feel free to leave any comments you have below, or drop me a like.
