Guided meditation for reducing stress.

Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.

- Will Rogers

This guided meditation is to help you reduce your stress.

Start by finding a quiet place, where you won’t be disturbed for the following 8 minutes 25 seconds.

Make sure you are comfortable, either sitting or laying down, and close your eyes.

Take a deep breath in through your nose, hold at the top for a moment, and then exhale slowly, allowing any tensions you may be holding to melt away.

While you repeat this deep breathing two more times, repeat the words calm and tranquility.

Now relax into the natural rhythm of your breath.

Visualise yourself standing at the edge of a vast pond, lush with green rushes and grasses. The crystal clear water rippling in the soft breeze, you find your surroundings tranquil, and you feel at peace. Feel the softness of the grass beneath your feet. Imagine roots extending from the soles of your feet, connecting you to the earth, grounding you in this beautiful moment.

As you allow the calm to wash over your body, bring your awareness back to your breath. Inhale deeply and slowly, feeling your chest and belly rise, and exhale slowly, releasing any stress and tension. On each inhale allow relaxation, and with each exhale let go of any worries.

Again allow the natural rhythm of your breath to take over, and visualise those ripples across the pond. The pond represents relaxation and tranquility. With each inhale, imagine the ponds refreshing water, carrying a sense of calmness into your body. With each exhale, envision any stress or tension being carried away across the vast pond.

Bring your awareness to your senses, allowing yourself to be fully immerse at the side of this beautiful crystal clear pond. Feel the warmth of the sun kiss your skin, hear the musical chirp of the birds, and the leaves rustling in the gentle breeze. Let the scent of the surrounding wild flowers fill your nose, and imagine the taste of the clean, pure air as you breathe.

Begin to scan your body for any areas of tension. Starting from your toes, and work your way up to your head. Imagine the tension melting away, leaving your body feeling light and free from stress.

As you continue to stand by your pond, allow thoughts to come, and then let them simply drift away. Imagine each thought being gently carried away by the ripples on the surface of the pond, leaving your mind with clarity.

Bring your awareness to your heart centre. Imagine a soft, warm light glowing within you. This light represents your inner peace and resilience. With each breath, allow this light to expand, filling your entire being with a sense of calm and serenity.

Repeat after me:

I am safe and supported

I release what no longer serves me

I am in control of my reactions

I choose calm, clarity, and freedom

Gently bring your awareness back to your breath. Notice the rhythm of the rise and fall of your chest as you inhale and exhale. Begin to wiggle your fingers and toes, gradually reconnecting with your physical body.

Take a moment to acknowledge the sense of calm and relaxation you have allowed yourself by making space in your day for this meditation. Slowly open your eyes, and allow yourself to carry this feeling with you as you continue your day.

Thank you.
