Can you breath down into the stress?
When you feel anxious, or stressed, have you even taken a moment to sit and notice where you can feel it in your body?
I hadn’t until very recently.
If someone expresses a through that triggers a feeling to occur within you, do you know where it sits?
Once our brain processes a situation we can attach meaning and emotion to it. The emotion can trigger a guttural response without our conscious control. After this primal reaction occurs, feelings begin at a more conscious level in the brain. Before this happens, can you pause to notice where the uncomfortable sense sparks within you?
I often hear people say the gut. Intuitively, they feel a pull, a gut response that something doesn’t feel right.
I noticed recently that warning sits in my chest. I feel a tightness, and slight heart palpitations. This is my warning that I am feeling uneasy.
It doesn’t have to be something that would cause a fight or flight reaction. It can simply be a discussion that triggers a response in me that causes unease. Possibly a mirror being held up to a trauma I have experienced.
If we have not dealt with our shadows and traumas this can and will happen.
Try not to bury this discomfort. Find it. Allow yourself to really identify where it sits inside you. Breathe into it. Until you have dealt with the cause of the trauma, these reactions will continue. By allowing yourself pause to sit with your discomfort and acknowledge it, you will ease it. Find it. Embrace it. Breath into it.
